There comes a time in everyone’s life when you need to lean on someone. That person should be honest, supportive, inspiring and see a better path for you – one that’s true to you – and guide you there.

That’s mentoring.

Mariela was new to Oracle Utilities when she found one such mentor. It was in these early days that Mariela Soliven, Sr. Analyst, CC&B Tester at CriticalRiver, encountered an issue as the page which had her configurations became inaccessible after deployment. Unable to find a solution even after trying for hours, she reported it to her team leader.

Despite her initial fears, the team leader calmly and efficiently resolved the issue.

“I was inspired by how my team lead washed away all the fear and pressure that I felt minutes earlier. He taught me that experience is helpful, unbeatable, and the best teacher. He said we should never hesitate to ask for help when something comes up and learn from it,” recalls Mariela.

Throughout her career, she met mentors who motivated her to become what she is today. When she joined CriticalRiver in 2022, she assumed a senior role and also discovered new mentors to guide her.

“Life at CriticalRiver is like thriving in a garden of growth, where purpose and progress intertwine to create a fulfilling and rewarding experience,” she said.

In future, Mariela sees herself in the role of a mentor, while taking on more demanding positions within CriticalRiver. “I want to be in a position of leadership where I can inspire others, have a significant impact, and promote change. I’m also dedicated to lifelong learning and growth, keeping up with business developments and picking up new abilities to be competitive,” she says.
